PE Pipe Extrusion Line

PE pipe extrusion line with illustrative black and blue pipe products
Application illustration; final line configuration is project-specific.

PE pipe projects can vary widely in diameter, wall thickness, layer structure and downstream handling. RUNNING MACHINE uses the finished pipe specification to define the extruder, tooling, cooling length, haul-off, cutting or coiling method and supporting equipment required for the proposed line.

A project involving small coiled pipe has different downstream needs from one producing larger straight lengths, so the layout must be based on the actual product plan.

Typical line scope

  • Material feeding and preparation as required
  • Main extruder and optional co-extruder for stripes or additional layers
  • Die head, sizing tooling and change parts
  • Vacuum calibration and cooling tanks
  • Haul-off selected for the pipe range
  • Cutter, coiler or stacking system
  • Marking, measurement and auxiliary options when specified

Information needed for an accurate proposal

  1. PE resin grade and whether recycled material is planned
  2. Pipe application and product standard
  3. Minimum and maximum outside diameter
  4. SDR, pressure class or wall-thickness range
  5. Solid-wall, striped or multi-layer construction
  6. Straight-length or coiled-pipe delivery
  7. Target output and expected operating schedule
  8. Required printing, marking or measurement functions
  9. Local electrical supply and utility conditions
  10. Workshop length, width and access restrictions

Planning the downstream section

Cooling, pulling and finished-pipe handling often determine the usable line layout. Large wall sections may require more cooling capacity. Coiled products require a suitable coiler and coil specification. Straight pipe requires cutting length and safe transfer or stacking space.

Frequently asked questions

Can the line add a color stripe or an additional layer?

The scope can include co-extrusion when the pipe design requires it. Send the layer structure, material for each layer and stripe or color requirement.

Can existing factory auxiliaries be reused?

Possibly. Share the model, capacity, connections and condition of each available unit so compatibility can be reviewed rather than assumed.
