A plastic extrusion line quotation is useful only when it describes the product to be made and the equipment, tooling, utilities, documents and services included. This checklist helps buyers send the same project basis to each supplier and compare the replies line by line.
Use the checklist for pipe, hose, profile, sheet, board, strap, pelletizing and related extrusion projects. Mark unknown items instead of guessing. A supplier can then identify which information must be confirmed before the final configuration.
1. Finished product definition
- Product name and intended application
- Drawing, applicable product requirement or clear sample photos
- Minimum and maximum dimensions
- Wall, thickness, profile, layer or reinforcement structure
- Tolerances, surface, colour, printing and joining requirements
- Cut length, coil, stack, pack or pellet format
List the complete range and identify the priority products. The quotation should state which product controls the proposed output and which tooling sets are included.
2. Raw material and preparation
State the polymer or formulation as accurately as possible. Include grade information when relevant, recycled-content plans, filler, reinforcement, colour concentrate and moisture or drying requirements. Describe whether material arrives as powder, pellets, flakes or another feed form.
Ask the supplier to list required mixing, drying, dosing, conveying, filtration and feeding equipment separately. If you already own compatible material-handling equipment, provide its interface information.
3. Output and operating basis
- Target output for each priority product
- Whether the target is weight, line speed, pieces, coils or another unit
- Reference material, size, wall and product condition
- Planned shifts and operating hours
- Expected product-change frequency
Request the conditions behind every output statement. A single rate cannot represent different materials, dimensions and downstream formats unless the proposal explains the basis.
4. Complete line scope
| Scope area | What the quotation should identify |
|---|---|
| Material preparation | Mixing, drying, dosing, feeding, conveying and filtration |
| Main process | Extruder or extruders, forming stage and process controls |
| Tooling | Dies, moulds, calibrators, sizing parts and change parts by product |
| Cooling and utilities | Vacuum, cooling, temperature control, pumps and buyer utility interfaces |
| Downstream | Haul-off, cutting, winding, stacking, handling, marking and packing |
| Controls and inspection | Line coordination, recipes, measurement, alarms and inspection functions |
| Project delivery | Documents, spares, trial, packing, commissioning, training and exclusions |
Ask suppliers to mark included, optional, buyer-supplied and excluded items. This makes commercial totals comparable and reduces late changes.
5. Factory and destination information
- Installation country and destination
- Voltage, frequency, phase and available power
- Cooling-water supply, return and treatment conditions
- Compressed air and ventilation where required
- Available line length, width, height and maintenance clearance
- Door, unloading, crane or lifting access
- Raw-material entry and finished-product exit direction
Attach a simple factory drawing with fixed columns, doors and utility points. The factory-planning guide explains the information to reserve before layout approval.
6. Tooling, samples and changeovers
List the tooling set required for each priority product and distinguish production tools from spare parts. Ask for the product range supported by each set, the change parts involved and the intended changeover sequence. State whether buyer samples, drawings or material will be used for design and trial.
7. Trial and acceptance requirements
Define the trial product, material, tooling and measurement method before comparing test promises. State the required run condition, product checks, retained samples, records, photos or videos and open-item process. Identify checks that must occur after installation.
Use the factory acceptance test checklist to connect the quotation scope to measurable evidence.
8. Commercial comparison fields
- Price by equipment group and tooling set
- Delivery basis and packing scope
- Payment terms and quotation validity
- Estimated production and delivery schedule stated by the supplier
- Installation, commissioning and training boundary
- Spare parts, consumables and recommended buyer stock
- Warranty terms and exclusions stated in the quotation
Commercial terms vary by supplier and project. Record them exactly as offered and compare them together with the technical boundary. The plastic extrusion machine price guide explains why two totals may cover different scopes.

Frequently asked questions
Can I request a quotation without a finished drawing?
Yes, an initial discussion can use sample photos, material, size range and application. Mark missing dimensions clearly. A final equipment and tooling scope should follow confirmed product information.
Why do quotations with the same machine name have different totals?
The included tooling, auxiliaries, downstream functions, controls, documents, spares and project services may differ. Compare the complete scope and exclusions, not the headline machine name.
Which details matter most for a first reply?
Send the product, material, size range, priority product, output target, downstream format, voltage and destination. Those details allow the supplier to identify the main configuration questions.
Send your extrusion-line RFQ
Send Mac Lee the completed summary, drawings and sample photos. We will use the information to discuss the equipment, tooling and downstream boundary for your project.
